harry potter and the order of the phoenix
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix is a 2007 fantasy film.
Directed by: David Yates.
Starring: Daniel Radcliffe, Rupert Grint, Emma Watson, Ralph Fiennes, Brendan Gleeson, Michael Gambon, Jason Isaacs, Gary Oldman, Alan Rickman, David Thewlis, Helena Bonham Carter,Evanna Lynch and Imelda Staunton.
After Voldemort's return, Harry is haunted by his demons and no one accepts his parables of the dark lords return to be true. The Ministry of Magic out of fear begin to take over Hogwarts.
While all the films generally focus on Harry Potter, the fifth year tends to dwell more into a darker place in his life. With the loss of a student by the hands of his enemy, he has been reduced to a liar. His own classmates discard him as an individual out for fame and blame him for the death of Cedric. Fear takes over the soul and makes it believe what it wants to rather than seek reason. All part of Voldemort's plan, which gives him far more control then ever in his wildest dreams.
The first taste of his power is where he sends two Dementors to attack Harry, forcing him to use his magic and maybe eliminate Hogwarts from the equation. Unexpectedly we see Potter protect Dudley from the Dementor, when at one point it seemed like he hesitated. Maybe others wouldn't see what I saw but that's my opinion. Though it's the character's duty to protect those in danger, nice to see he cares somewhat for his cousin.
As later, the Order of the Phoenix makes its introduction to take Harry for asylum. This scene displays a very interesting form of magic, where their secret headquarters appears from the walls of a neighboring building like a the prison chest that held Moody confined. Another interesting character would be the servant of Black manor, Kreacher who doesn't seem to be as lovable as Dobbey but obeys commands. His mumbling against the people living in the house hints us that Black's life in his family must have been filled with drama and dysfunction. The Phoenix members were founded by Dumbledore to counter the dark forces of Slytherin's heir and harry feels as if he should fight with them, but as usual, he's shielded for his protection. This presents a problem in our hero's character development. He's the supposed prophecy to defeat Voldemort yet is still treated as a child and not recognized. Truthfully he does have much to learn, but it makes him feel further shadowed from everyone else. Keeping Harry in the dark go on the entire film until the long awaited climax. The Visuals:
The battle between the headmaster and student had great visual effects. The cinematography through the movie's dark tone really made it for me. The costume selection was perfect and the halls of the Ministry divine.
The Bad:
The relationship between Harry and Cho was too awkward and not well developed. I've heard they have more interactions in the book. A few plot holes here and there. Harry's father tormenting Snape wasn't explained to detail, forcing me to guess. Hard to believe Rowling approved of the script with many questions. What about the Veil? What about Padfoot? why did Black refer to Harry as James? was it because he reminded him of James Potter or because of Harry's middle name? And why didn't Voldemort get wet?
Overall:
A darker chapter, vile antagonists and a prophecy yet to be told.

Every shove that happened before the time this proposal was put online was legal, even if the Shoved Gladiator did not have any AP.
Shoving allows a Gladiator to move an adjacent Gladiator to a Square that Gladiator could legally step into. To legally step into any square, a Gladiator needs at least one AP. Thus, shoving doesn’t work with Gladiators that do not have any AP. This intends to fix it and make every shove that happened up until now legal.

Mumbai blasts coordinated terror attack
Cities across India are on high alert as the government came under mounting criticism for its repeated failures to detect terrorist attacks, following the blitz on Mumbai in which 18 people were killed.
As a monsoon drizzle swept Mumbai, the casualty figure from the three bomb explosions on Wednesday was revised downwards by the home minister, P Chidambaram, on a visit to the affected districts, despite the gruesome discovery of a severed head on Thursday morning.
"The discovery of the severed head takes the number of killed to 18 [reduced from the earlier official figure of 21 dead], while the number of injured stands at 131," Chidambaram said.
"It appears that ammonium nitrate was used in the bombs, with a timer mechanism. The three blasts occurred within 10 minutes of each other, which shows it was a co-ordinated terrorist attack."
He added that of the 131 injured, 26 have been discharged from hospital, 82 are in a stable condition, while 23 are critical.
As yet, no known terrorist organisation has taken responsibility for the blasts, but security experts believe the prime suspect in the latest outrage is radical Muslim group the Indian Mujahideen (IM). Indian cities have been attacked in recent years by both Muslim and Hindu terrorists.
But despite the IM remaining active for the last nine years following the February 2002 anti-Muslim violence in the state of Gujarat, both intelligence agencies and local police are struggling to eliminate the threat.
Defending the security agencies, Chidambaram told reporters that "if there was no intelligence on a particular incident it doesn't mean a failure of intelligence".
He also insisted that CCTV cameras had been installed in Mumbai, even though the state home department has still to clear a January 2009 city police proposal for a 5,000-camera electronic surveillance network. Only the traffic police have CCTV cameras at road junctions.
Maharashtra's chief minister, Prithviraj Chavan, also maintained that CCTV cameras had "got a lot of useful footage" of the attacks, but explained away the failure to upgrade the system by saying that "Mumbai wants quick progress … but procurement (of equipment) is a difficult process."
Even the ruling Congress party leader, Rahul Gandhi, joined the official chorus and declared that "99% of terror attacks have been stopped" by the authorities. Indian newspapers, however, carried long lists of terror strikes in Mumbai and other cities during the last decade, including several that remain unsolved.
"It is very difficult to stop every single terror attack," Gandhi added. "We've improved in leaps and bounds, but terrorism is something that is also increasing in leaps and bounds."
Many businesses at the gold, diamond and jewellery centres in Mumbai that were hit by the blasts remained closed on Thursday, but a few traders and workers who were around expressed anger and frustration at the fact that Mumbai had again become a target for terrorists.
"Terrorist attacks on Mumbai have become an annual event, the city has become an easy target, as the government cannot do anything," a businessman in Zaveri Bazaar said on a TV news channel. "So we've no choice but to keep working."
Even as politicians resorted to tired clichés about the "resilience of the people of Mumbai", a young man at the third bomb site in Dadar spoke of ordinary people's helplessness in the face of the attacks.
He said: "The relatives of the injured and dead are faced with one kind of tension today, whereas others like me have another kind of tension – the daily tension of filling our stomach. Inflation has gone out of hand, so we've to work in order to survive."
A lot of the anger was directed against politicians touring the bomb sites with TV crews. Meanwhile, relatives of the dead stood patiently outside the city coroner's office in the monsoon rain hoping to collect the bodies of their loved ones.

Selena Gomez Wears Justin Bieber's Shirt Photos
Selena Gomez is more popular than Justin Bieber these days. Unlike the guilt of Casey Anthony, this is a fact.
Gomez has jumped past her boyfriend to claim the number-one spot on Billboard's Social 50 list, a ranking that considers the "most active artists on the world’s leading social networking sites... using a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays," according to the company behind it.
Bieber does come in at number-two on the list, at least. Let's take a look at the top five, shall we?
- Selena Gomez
- Justin Bieber
- Michael Jackson
- Lady Gaga
- Shakira
Perhaps Selena owes Justin a comforting foot massage now. No matter which order they are in, though, it's clear: this couple owns the Internet.

(Adds analyst comment, housing equity data, graph)
By Sven Egenter
LONDON, JULY 4 - Britain's construction industry lost some steam in June and firms were less optimistic about the outlook, a monthly survey among purchasing managers showed on Monday.
The Markit/CIPS construction PMI index eased to 53.6 points from 54.0 points in May, broadly in line with analysts' forecasts of a dip to 53.7 points.
'June data rounds off a further solid quarter of growth, albeit down on the first quarter,' Markit economist Sarah Bingham said.
'This contrasts with the surprising weakness seen in the official data for the first three months of the year,' she said.
Official statistics showed that construction, which makes up for about 6 percent of British economic output, contracted by 3.4 percent in the first quarter, contradicting the expansion signalled by the PMI surveys.
The dip in the construction PMI follows a surprisingly sharp slowdown in manufacturing industry which fuelled concerns about the health of the broader economic recovery.
The construction PMI showed that commercial and civil engineering companies saw output rising while house building shrank for the second time over the past three months.
LACK OF SPENDING
Separate data from the Bank of England also highlighted the weakness in the housing market. Homeowners continued to pay back their mortgage debt at a quicker pace than they added to it. Britons injected some 5.8 billion pounds of equity into their homes in the first quarter.
Britons have injected equity into their homes for the past three years, reversing the trend of home equity withdrawal to fund other spending that had dominated the previous decade, when people used mortgages to finance their consumer spending.
'The ongoing appreciable net injection of housing equity is adding to the constraints on consumer spending most notably including negative real wage growth, the increasing fiscal squeeze, high unemployment and elevated debt levels,' IHS Global Insight analyst Howard Archer said.
Weak consumer spending has become the main drag for the UK economy, struggling to gain momentum after a shock contraction at the end of last year, and it is also weighing on house prices and prospects for the building industry.
'The worry is that the level of business confidence has fallen to a six-month low in the sector, which suggests that companies are expecting growth to weaken over the next twelve months,' Markit economist Bingham said.
'That is perhaps not altogether surprising given a marked easing in the rate of expansion of new business inflows in June,' she said.
The survey also showed that firms cut back staff as a result of the slowdown in orders.
David Beckham and Victoria Beckham baby due today
He and Victoria have booked her caesarean for July 4 – one of America’s biggest national holidays.
Speaking at the unveiling of the new LA Galaxy strip, Becks could not contain his excitement for their first baby girl.
He raved: “It’s a whole new different thing for us. To have so much pink in the house, lilac in the house, and dresses. All the clothes are ready, the room’s ready. We’re really excited.”
Becks added the date of the C-section was very dear to their hearts. He said: “Obviously we got married on July 4, 12 years ago, Monday, so it’s a special day for us, it always has been and always will be.”
The Beckhams – and sons Brooklyn, 12, Romeo, eight, and Cruz, six – will be joined in California by their extended families after the birth.
Victoria’s parents Jackie and Tony, sister Louise and brother Christian are flying out to join the couple this week.
Victoria Beckham
David’s mum Sandra is staying in the UK for now because his sister Lynne is due to give birth around the same time. Yesterday, our sister paper, the Sunday Mirror, revealed Posh, 37, was planning to breast feed her baby daughter after bottle-feeding her three boys.
“I’m doing everything differently this time. I want it all to be natural and perfect for my little girl,” she told a friend.
“I’m so proud to be pregnant and I feel so blessed and so happy.”
It also emerged yesterday that Becks and Victoria may not be able to see their newly-wed friends Prince William and Kate, the Duchess of Cambridge, when they head to California on Friday.
David said: “Unfortunately, I don’t think we will be able to make it just because I have a game the night after, so I’m not allowed to go to events the night before.
“They’re only here for a couple days and their schedule is always so rammed, but we’ll see.”
happy 4th of july declaration of independence
Historically, the legal liberation of 13 original colonies took place on July 2, 1776, in a closed session of Congress. However, the Second Continental Congress took two more days to modify the famous of American documents, delaying the final approval of Declaration of Independence by two more days.
Although the Declaration of Independence managed to get the Congressional approval on July 4, 1776, it was not made public until July 8. Thus the first Independence Day was celebrated on July 8, 1776.
The Declaration of Independence was read on July 8th, 1776 by Col. John Nixon. He, less than a year later, would be made a brigadier general of the Continental Army.
The day saw summoning of citizens to Independence Hall for the very first public reading of the US Independence Declaration, by ringing the bells of Philadelphia, including the Liberty Bell. This breaks yet another American myth regarding the ringing of Liberty BellContrary to the popular misconception, Liberty Bell did not ring on July 4th, 1776 to mark the US Independence day. Americans had to wait four more days, till July 8th, to listen to the Liberty Bell as well as the public reading of Declaration of Independence.
The popular idea of 56 signers being in the same room at the same time on US day of independence is not supported by history. The signers of the Declaration of Independence did not sign the document on July 4, 1776, deeming the belief an absolute urban myth.
The official signing event took place on August 2nd, 1776, when 50 men signed the document. It took several months before all 56 finally signed. Thomas McKean, the last signer, signed in January 1777, seven months after the document was approved by Congress.
The names of the signers were kept confidential for more than six months after signing, to protect their identities, since the Revolutionary War hadn't ended and if the signers were discovered, the rebellious act of signing could have resulted in their deaths.
Fireworks, parades, barbecues, carnivals, fairs, picnics, concerts, baseball games, family reunions, political speeches and ceremonies, and various other public and private events celebrating the history, government, and traditions of the United States, marks the US Independence day.

The big story is Independence Day and all the celebrations. That's right, on Friday Nebraska officially left the Big 12 conference.
Dan Beebe presented NU Chancellor Harvey Perlman with the “Don't let the Door Hit You In The Butt On Your Way Out” plaque.
It's good to be out. Last weekend one of the networks re-ran the movie “Titanic.” I was watching for two hours before I realized it wasn't a special on the Big 12 spring meetings.
The Fourth of July is a time for extended families to get together. The Husker football program plans to use the occasion to announce that Barney Cotton's entire extended family will be signing letters of intent to play for Nebraska.
Tyler Gabbert is transferring from Missouri to Louisville, where he will be coached by Shawn Watson. Upon hearing the news, all 1.8 million Nebraskans said in unison, “They deserve each other.”
Georgia notified the NCAA of a possible rule violation. The NCAA said it was aware of potential violations at Georgia after it noticed “member of the Southeastern Conference” after its name.
The city of Pittsburgh held a rally to pay tribute to Hines Ward for winning “Dancing With The Stars.” This is when you know municipalities are on firmer ground economically. Cities are spending money to honor victories over Kirstie Alley.
South Carolina coach Ray Tanner said the College World Series finals would be no different if the teams went on a back sandlot and flipped a coin to see who was home and played without any fans watching. There's already an event like that — it's called the Big Ten Conference Baseball Championships.
During the final game of the sweep over Florida, some South Carolina fans were using brooms. Omaha's finances are so poor, the fans were then asked to clean up the city.
A plane offering free bacon if you texted a certain number has been flying over TD Ameritrade Park. Am I missing something? Is there a shortage of unhealthy food at TD Ameritrade Park that fans need to text for bacon?
TD Ameritrade Park appears to be a pitcher's park. I predicted beforehand that Saturday night's Home Run Derby ends in a scoreless tie.
The Florida Marlins had to move three games after Sun Life Stadium hosted U2 concerts. When Marlins' manager Jack McKeon, 80, was informed that the world's hottest band was coming to town he said, “The Everly Brothers?”
As of Wednesday, the Marlins were 3-22 in June. To put it in perspective, Anthony Weiner had a better month.
The NBA has shut down. Meanwhile, the government increased the high alert we are under, as the shutdown means that Charles Barkley will be playing more golf.
Kim Kardashian has set a wedding date — early August. She doesn't know who she's marrying yet, but between the NFL lockout and the NBA lockout, she knows there are plenty of available grooms.
Tennis great Jimmy Connors has a memoir coming out. If history holds up, it will sell one less copy than the Bjorn Borg memoir.
The annual Nathan's Fourth of July Hot Dog Eating Contest will take place Monday on Coney Island. The winner is expected to eat less than the average fan attending any College World Series game at TD Ameritrade Park.
And finally: Professional wrestler Ric Flair claims that he's rassled 100,000 matches. When they heard this, Wilt Chamberlain's 20,000 women said, “Get outta here.”
