Samsung reacts to Apple lawsuit, will file own suit

Samsung has responded to Apple's lawsuit against the company over intellectual property violations in regards to smartphones and tablets. The Korean company vows to take legal action to protect its own intellectual properties.

Yesterday, The Wall Street Journal reported that Apple had filed a lawsuit against Samsung claiming intellectual property violations with Samsung's Galaxy line of smartphones and tablets. Apple claimed that the design language employed by Samsung was too similar to Apple's iPhone.

In a statement today, Samsung says that it "will respond actively to this legal action taken against us through appropriate legal measures to protect our intellectual property." The company feels that Apple may have violated some of its own patents and will pursue legal action against Apple despite the two companies having a working relationship for components supply. Apple was Samsung's second largest client for component purchases in 2010.

Its will be no surprise if this becomes a rather embroiled legal battle as both companies have a lot at stake in the mobile device industry and will likely fight this out for some time
