It looks like customers in the UK are getting an early treat, as the Samsung Galaxy S II superphone is available for purchase at a couple of retailers ahead of its scheduled May 1 launch.

Both The Carphone Warehouse and Phones4U are listing the 4.3-inch monster for sale with plans available from Vodafone, T-Mobile, Orange, and O2. The Carphone Warehouse is offering it SIM-free for 495 GBP (US$824) as well. It is not yet available directly from the carriers, so it looks like you will need to head to an independent retailer to get in on the early action.

The Galaxy S II is the successor to the immensely popular Galaxy S from last year. It bumps the screen size up to 4.3 inches from 4 inches, and swaps out the 1GHz Hummingbird processor for a 1.2GHz dual-core Exynos screamer. The S deuce is also capable of recording 1080p HD video, and it runs Android 2.3 Gingerbread with Samsung's custom TouchWiz interface on top.
