Evernote for Android bumped to version 3.0 with some major upgrades

Evernote, the company on a mission to enable you to capture and store every piece of information around you, has released a major update to its Android client. Included in the update are new sharing options, location tracking, and a new UI, and a revamped widget.

One of the headline features of the new version of Evernote is the ability to view and edit shared notebooks from other Evernote users, right from the mobile device. Premium subscribers have the ability to download shared notebooks to use offline. Evernote is billing this as a great collaboration tool.

Also added is the ability to share individual notes directly to Facebook, or with any Android application that supports Android's share feature. Search has been improved as well. Users can now search within a notebook to find specifically what they are looking for.

The much needed ability to create notebooks directly from your mobile device was also added. Previously, notebooks could only be create from the desktop application. Now, notebooks can be created and managed right on the phone, streamlining the process and making it much easier for the user to organize their notes.

Evernote for Android now allows users to view their notes on a map so they can see where the note was originally created. Users can opt to use GPS positioning or the data from wireless networks to pinpoint their location.

Finally, the UI has been revamped and the widget has been redesigned with a more modern look to it. Premium users can also enable a PIN lock for their notebooks for added security. Evernote for Android 3.0 is free and available in the Android Market now.
