Samsung S3850 Corby II touchscreen feature phone announced

has officially announced the entry-level S3850 Corby II, the successor to the original S3650 Corby that launched in September 2009. Boasting a 3.14-inch touchscreen display with a 320 x 240 pixel resolution, the Corby II is very similar to the original Corby, but with a slightly larger screen and some more advanced connectivity features.

The Corby II offers Samsung's TouchWiz user interface, which provides quick access to social networking services as well as instant messaging and Exchange ActiveSync support for push email. TouchWiz can also be used to add widgets to the homescreen.

The Colby II supports quad-band 850/900/1800/1900MHz networks, which means you'll have access to EDGE, but not 3G, networks. Bluetooth 3.0 and 802.11b/g/n Wi-Fi connectivity are also supported, two features that were not present on the original Corby. There's a 2MP camera on the back, and the 1,000mAh battery is rated for up to 9.5 hours of talk time or 25.8 days of standby. Its small in size and measures 109.9mm x 60.6mm x 11.7mm (4.33in x 2.39in x 0.46in) and weighs 102g (3.6oz).

The Corby II will be available in late March in Germany and then will be released throughout Europe, Latin America, Asia and Africa. Pricing has yet to be announced.
