Nokia has launched a new feature that takes on Google and it’s Chrome to phone feature allowing users to connect their phone to their laptop through their browser and share information and files.
In what’s likely to become the next big thing, Nokia’s Nokia Drop allows you to ditch the Bluetooth dongle or the data cable and instead send links or photos from your computer browser with one click of the mouse and watch them magically and instantly appear on your Nokia device.
Nokia Drop was built using Qt and offers quick transferring of items on the Web to your phone without the need of using cables or Bluetooth. Users will be able to initially share links and images between the two devices.
There are two parts to this app, the app for your phone and a plug-in for your browser, which currently supports Chrome and Firefox.
Once installed all users have to do is right click on their browser window, or click an icon at the top of the browser.
The new app and browser bolt on will work on the Nokia N8-00, Nokia C6-01, Nokia C7-00, Nokia E7-00, Nokia X6-00, Nokia 5228, Nokia 5230, Nokia 5235, Nokia 5530, Nokia C6-00, Nokia N97 and Nokia N97 mini.
